Any business in the state that is wanting to serve alcoholic beverages must obtain a local municipality liquor license and an Illinois State Liquor License, both of which will need to be renewed on a yearly basis. You will need to contact the city your establishment is located in to determine their specific laws and steps you’ll need to follow. Once you have obtained this from your municipality, you may apply with the state.
State Liquor License Requirements
Once you’ve obtained your local authentication, you can then start an application for an Illinois Liquor License, which costs $750. The form asks for detailed information regarding your local license, tax documents, business license, federal employer ID, and more, so ensure you have that paperwork readily available.
In the State of Illinois, Liquor Licenses are issued by the Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) at the state level and follow strict regulations for approval of the distribution and sale of alcoholic beverages. Contact the ILCC to verify if you qualify before filling out your application.
